Avocado Toast in Paris

I often recommend visiting Angelina on the Rue de Rivoli to friends visiting Paris for the first time. The chocolat chaud and their famous Mont Blanc dessert are decadent food memories to take home from a visit to Paris. Plus, the Rue de Rivoli location is extravagantly decorated in an Art Nouveau and Art Deco style, you can sit down and rest feet weary from much city-walking, and there are lovely and clean facilities. This January it was honestly the place to sit down and lovely and clean facilities that made me decide to stop in, even though I wasn’t in the market for something sweet. I was in need of lunch, and beyond the French Onion Soup (is it just onion soup in France?) I ate there once, I wasn’t sure what savory items would be on the menu.

I decided to order the avocado toast, even though I felt hesitant at the 20-euro price. I would never pay that much for avocado toast anywhere else, but sometimes you pay a little extra for convenience and a memorable experience when traveling. Since you can already see the picture above, I hope it is obvious that this avocado toast was a work of art and the perfect combination of sweet, savory, creamy, and crunchy that any foodie could desire. It was well worth the price tag. Perhaps I should have guessed that this would be no normal avocado toast. I also tried the Mont-Blanc tea for the first time, and it was lovely. If you’ve only ever stopped into Angelina for the hot chocolate and patisserie, let this be your sign to give the avocado toast a try.
